The Bioactive Natural Products Center of Excellence (BNPCE) is actively pursuing industry and institutional partnerships to facilitate the commercialization of natural products discovered through its research efforts.

BNPCE is currently working to create a strategic partnership with the National Park Service (NPS) and the non-profit group Discover Life in America (DLIA). The All-Taxa Biodiversity Inventory (ATBI) that is being conducted by the NPS and DLIA represents a comprehensive inventory of all life forms in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Our partnerships with the NPS and DLIA affords BNPCE researchers the unique opportunities of 1) "tapping" the existing data compiled during this inventory thus far, and 2) conducting collecting forays which may lead to the discovery of previously unrecorded bioactive compounds from plants and/or microbes in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
